Took the FW out in the boat this afternoon, fishing for cats with stink bait and whatever else would hit a crawler. Wound up with 11 total, 8 on Junnies Stink Bait and 3 on crawlers. The majority were 15 inches long or so, the biggest was 24 on the nose. Caught in anywhere from 4 feet to 16 feet of water. Only had one get off as I was reeling it in. Almost lost my St. Croix rod that I won as part of the 2010 Freeze Your Butt Contest. Was netting one for the FW when the rod started going over the side of the boat. Never caught a sheephead or anything else on crawlers either.

Yummy! That’s the makings of a good fish fry.

The water was really muddy from all the rain. I was fishing close to where we were in the boat on Sunday but from the bank as I didn’t have time to get the boat ready. C aught one sheephead that day and had more bites on crawlers. I think the dirty water may have shut the sheephead down.

When I got them all chucked up I had a ice cream bucket full of wonderful lokking catfish chunks. Some get a hot grease bath tonight, the rest will be frozen.
