Besides for bait that is. The girlfriend and I got out a couple nights last week and did pretty well. The average size was great. Lots of twelve to fourteen inch fish. I even managed a new pb. One giant 16incher. Went just a hair under two and a half lbs. Hopefully I can get the pics off my girlfriend’s phone soon and post them up. We also managed two four pound channels a couple dogfish a northern and one snapping turtle. All on my not so secret Bullhead bait. Sadly it seems the short window on this bite is rapidly closing. I may try again on Saturday but I’m not hugely optimistic

Do you eat them? They’re yummy! I wish I knew of a place to find bullheads of that size

Back in my teens we used to go out with lanterns and hang crawlers under lighted bobbers and catch them that way. Thanks for bringing bullheads to my attention might have to try it again soon!

Love fishing for and eating bullheads, Haven’t caught one in years though. Not really sure why either.

Tbat seems to be the consensus with a lot of guys. Bullheads now seem to be overlooked. I know I’ve heard stories from a lot of salty old veteran fishermen about bringing home a hundred or more per night back in the day. This could have a lot to do with decreased catch rates and subsequently people losing interest in bullies. That’s just my two cents.

We use to fish for them all the time. All our spots are silted now though. Wish I could find some good spots. I love fried Bullheads. Now if you find em they are all small around here.

Bullheads are the least affected fish of over harvest from humans. Their decline in some waters is due more to loss of habitat, especially in river systems. Rivers are changing 24/7/365.
If any of you disagree though, help the population by putting back the big fish and keep the smaller ones for eating.
I refer to the ‘big fish gene pool’ that needs to survive and populate.
