    …for bank fishing.

Our boat only made it out Saturday evening for a few hours before lightening was once again filling the sky.

This morning,I make it all the way to Everts launch before I hear the ugly sound of lightening and then the down pour. It’s 2:30 and the next line of thunderstorms is above us.

One very loud crack sent boaters scurrying to the docks and again the rain is coming down…hard!

With any luck, we should be able to get out after this line gets through.

Water temp last night was 62. I hope this rain will bring the water temp up a bit, but leave the levels alone.

Is that too much to ask?

Ya know? I think when I can’t tell wheather i’m in my camper or a boat on Lake Pepin, it might be time to seek better shelter.

    Here comes the hail!

You’re not alone. Every time I look at the lake we get another clap of thunder and a downpour. I think I heard that we have had rain 9 of 10 weekends so far this spring.

Well the NWS said we had up to 60 mph winds down here. I don’t believe that, but I certainly didn’t like the feeling of the camper rocking back and forth!

    Suns out!! Might be time!!

Got out on the MN river Saturday night and CPR-ed my first flatty of the year. Darren got a couple small ones early, and then later on the big fight was on.

First fish over 40 lbs for me in a couple years. Felt GREAT. It was crazy, there was lightning and thunder EVERYWHERE except where we were. Dry all night, amazingly.

    45 lbs, measured 47.5 x 29.5. Second biggest ever.

That is such good fortune to catch such a nice fish right away. Lotta coffee that night?

No coffee. A few bud light limes though. We were off the water by 11 pm actually. Just my second outing of the year, and first flathead caught. Very good fortune, hopefully means I’ll have a good season.

Interestingly enough, I remember 2008 when someone on this board caught about a 48 pounder on his first outing of the year, 5 minutes into fishing, before the boat captain even had a line in the water. Current was rushing so hard, he even got a new reel-it-in move named after him — the “Hanson”, where you stick the rod-butt between yer legs and heave that sucker in.
