I took the day off to spend some quality time with the boys who just turned 6 last February. It is catfish time on Lake Mendota but the cold weather and storms has made the fish lethargic. I thought it would be nice to go anyway. The day was nice and Jonas bagged his first cat and it was a dandy. 30 inches by 15 is a handful for a grown man. There were a few points when I thought he might be going overboard but he held on and wanted no help. Nice fish Jonas. Tom is bummed because this was the only bite we got in our 4 hour trip before the wind picked up and drove us off. Tom gets the first bite next time. Tight lines and many more big Joe. 44 degree water in 3.5 feet of water. Sonny’s blood strikes again.

“…and wanted no help”, I like that. Nice fish, now it is time to get the other one on one!

Whats the boo-boo on the channels dorsal fin?

The fish rolled in the line and mucked up the dorsal fin. It happens sometimes. It will be fine. Thomas did take a couple of fine pictures. Thomas did get the biggest bass last year. Thanks for the nice comments everyone. I do know one thing for sure. They won’t be satisfied with bluegills anymore.
