    Hi Mike,

She’s going to be TOUGH pal. Sorry for the bad news. Muddy and HIGH. As predicted this was going to be a tough year on the Rainy River. We have a big melt off and have had some big rain. We watched the river jump literally 3 feet in a day. That is what I know, but haven’t been there or seen it firsthand in the last couple days.

Thanks Chris. I seen it had come up very fast in the last week. Was trying to find a forecast for what it was going to do the next week or so. Have a feeling our plans of fishing walleyes tomorrow is going to be short lived and the sturgeon rods will come out by noon.

Just talked to a buddy up fishing and he said 8-9 oz to keep the bait on the bottom, when he did get it to stay on the bottom there is so much junk in the river that the bait was cover with grass/muck in 5 minutes. We were planning on leaving Friday morning but now I’m not sure. They have been there since Monday and have not caught a fish Any thoughts?

If I can get on a computer in the next day or 2 Ill try to put up a report. Just got off the phone with the resort. Brandy said the river is starting to clear up all ready from just a day or 2 ago.

As far as weight to keep the bait down I think its a matter of finding a different area. Take the landing at Wheelers point. Between the bottle neck of the river and river bend in that area you typically need much more weight than just a short ways up where the river widens.

From her report this morning Sturgeon are supposed to be going strong in 4 mile bay and she even had a couple guys come in with a decent walleye report.

I assure you the current is very strong. The current on Rainy lake……Is strong. Not to say there aren’t some back eddy areas where this is lessened. We watched the Big fork Break free Sunday and I assure you that…..Was ugly. LOL!! Good Luck Mike!

I will also try to get a report up after a day or so of fishing.

    Leaving in 14 hours.

Can’t cvome soon enough even with the fast water.

There is always a good place to fish just may take some looking.

I also heard at 4 mile bay was going vedry well for sturgeon. We will see very soon.
