I am going to be in Grand Forks for the weekend and I’m going to see if I can sneak down to the red River to pull a few cats out. Are there accessible shore fishing spots near or around grand forks? What is that catfishing like this time of year and is there places where I can get bait such as cut sucker or goldeneye or do you have to catch it on your own? Thanks
The best spot in grand forks is by the riverside boat access. However east side has lots of areas around the point bridge or south/east of cabelas. Cabelas sells packaged suckers but I have had best luck using goldeye. Typically you will find goldeye under the rapids on the red lake river or at the riverside rapids. Cut them into one inch peices and use a circle hook.
I’ve had my best luck on the Red with frogs. Kind of creepy to hook because the try to push your hand away but they work.
