My wife told me that I was kinda crabby tonight. So who am I to disagree with her.

I have to throw this out there…as long as I’m crabby….why is it that “most” catfisherman don’t tell you where they catch thier bait? I understand about hiding the great spots, it only makes sense. Personally, I think it’s more rewarding to “find” your own cat’s than to have somone give you the exact location of fishing spots….but that’s a nother…story.

Are we afraid that someone will go to your bait spot and fish all the 7 in bullheads out? With hook and line? Not going to happen!

There’s got to be a reason that I just can’t see of why these places are so hush – hush…heck, I know more about Area 51 than were to find a couple 7″ bullheads!

Help me see the light guys!

PS I tell you were Jimmy Hoffa is if you show me a bullhead spot!

Brian..I have a bullhead spot here Just outside of LaCrosse….I’ll be more than happy to show you the spot…

The only problem is…there are too many blugills/sunny’s and 15″ Crappies there too. If you can get your bait away from them, you have a good chance for bullheads

In about three weeks, a hot spot for bullheads would be just north of the Genoa dam and 5 miles south of Stoddard. We used to go fishing there all the time after dark, and always caught an abundance of bullhead.

OK, OK, OK. Lighten Up!!! I’ll take you to a couple of supersecret spots within a short drive of your house. Of course, I have to place a sandbag over your head, stick a sock in your mouth, stick you in a 55 gallon drum with the lid on tight, and place you and the drum in the back of a windowless, airtight, UHaul trailer and of course – make you bring the worms.

I tell you what, here’s a free one. Lily Lake in Stillwater, straight off the end of the fishing pier. Use your ultralight, with a small hook about 2 feet below a small bobber, with a piece of worm as bait. 30 minutes tops, you will have more than you need. As a matter of fact if you time it right a bunch of young kids will help you fill the bucket. Last time I was there, I baited the hooks and took the bullheads off and the kids caught all the bullheads. Most everybody wants the darn things out of the lake.

Have a great day, Oh Crabby One

I’m going to have to tell Bowfinhunter about you guys. It’s going to make him squirm. I appreciate the tips…but if you have a walleye in your mug shot or quote a Bass Pro in your signature line….you don’t count. This post was directed at the tight lipped catfisherman that lurk around this forum.

The people that fish eyes and bass are so willing to share everything about fishing for their favorite fish and others….but you ask a catman where he gets is bullheads…they start looking at you funny. You would think I was asking them for their mothers savings account number or something!

EXCEPT for the guy holding a 40+ lb flathead in his mug (shot)…he’s a breed apart. Most people would send a PM…Comanchero15 puts it in a post for the whole world to see….Steve be careful…you might give catmen (like BFH) a good name!

You notice how all those walleye & b[Ooops, did I just say that out loud?!] fishermen jump right in when you ask a question like that. I bet they spend hours chasing them bullheads. It gives them pratice, so when they hook one of them little bass or walleye they know how to get it in. Someday we may have to teach them how to catch “real” fish. I know bullhead is the bait for your flats, but what about your channels? Bullhead does make good cutbait also but I do believe sucker makes the best cutbait. So come on now bass and walleye guys where are all the sucker spots.

And don’t just say this forum!

Sorry Briank, some of the Red River forum is spilling over to here

Watch out for these guys at Everetts!

Soooo many questions to answer, were do I start.
    1. Brink – You have asked for my moms saving account # right after you took her walker.
    2. Comanchero 15 – when you place that sock, make sure it’s been used, He’ll like the flaver. And don’t forget 7″ Bullies need to eat too.
    3. Glasspa – Cat’s don’t eat mealy worms
4.Snauggerking – You must be crabby too. Did you lose your
Village Peoples greatist hits Vol. III, or Vol. IV
(Don’t worry Brink will make copies for you. He will also give your autographed poster of the Fab 5 dressed like the village people back to you)
    See ya,
    Bowfin

P.S. In answer to your question Brinker, the Anoka dam has a few. But don’t use your “mealy worm”

Whenever I am not using Bluegills, and want a change of pace say bullheads, I ask the nearest commercial fisherman. If he has them I get half a 5 gallon full for 5 bucks. They catch them in their net traps all the time and keep them for setlines.

Thanks for all the great responses…yours too BFFer
Being the lazy catfisherman (I’m going to be), has anyone seen a commercial fisherman around the Hudson area of the Croix?

I still don’t understand why…if you like in MN (the state where nothing is legal) you can’t use gills….but in WI you can.

    Thanks again…not so crabby anymore!
