Check out this old catfish picture I came across today. I caught this one shore fishing for walleyes one spring about 10-12 years ago. He put up a heck of a fight on six pound line. I know I should have released him but I didn’t know then what I know now. I think he went about 35 LBS.

Whereabouts were you shore fishing? Nice fish by the way.

Gator, is that you in the pic? You weren’t as shady then I guess.

I’ve been toying with the idea of bringing a small one home and frying one up. Everything I read says how good they are. It’s going to be tuff though, I never catch small ones.

Did you get her out of Pepin or in the river itself?
Your 6 pound test must have streeeechted a little eh?

Yeah Brian, that’s me. I was about 17 or 18 years old then.
I got her out of a little backwater slough that holds some nice postspawn walleyes. It is right off the river near Red Wing. I believe she hit a twister tail. I was only fishing in about 2-3 feet of water. I would like to keep the spot a secret ’cause I still catch nice walleye there every spring.
