My son and I fished the St Croix from 5:00pm to 11:00pm the evening of 5 September. Water temp was 69 degrees and water is low. Beautiful evening with no wind, clear, moonphase was 68% and perfect.. Caught one 23″ Flathead at 8:12pm and one turtle a little later. My son got a 23″ walleye at 10:45pm on a 5″ bullhead. I’m beginning to think that bullheads may be the ticket for bigger eyes (last time I was out I got a 25″ eye on a 6″ bullhead). Here’s a pic of my son with his walleye.

    Twins won (Hoorah)!!

Nice ‘eye again! Maybe if I quit fishing for the wily walleye, I’ll have better luck too.
Comanchero, are you going into the bait buisness? Not too many places that you can pick up a (live) bullhead! Were you fishing the same spot as last time?

GO TWINS! (and take the Viking too)

Hi Brian – When I start fishing for eyes I will probably start catching big Flats. I normally start fishing for walleyes in October. About the bullheads – I’ve got a couple of little puddle lakes that are full of them. It is kind of fun to go out in the afternoon and catch your bait for that night. Last time out I got a 13″ bullhead – megga bullhead. I let it go – it probably makes lots of little bullheads that I will need someday.
