On a recent trip to fleet farm looking for some catfishing hooks, i came across these odd looking things. they were the largest hooks they had, but i don’t no if they would work on cats or not. the packaging didn’t explain how or what to use them with. does anyone know if these hooks would work for catfish? if not, what would they work for ?

i’ll post a link to a picture since i don’t know how to put the actuall picture up . the bottom one is the one i’m talking about.

Boy……………..I don’t know Jake! I haven’t read about these or come across any example of them either. It’s not really a wide gap hook and not really a circle hook either…………..I can’t tell by looking at it what the best way to use it is or it’s intended purpose.

If anyone knows, we’d sure like to hear from you!

These are used for hanging smelt or other dead minnow bait under a float.

my cattin tackle is severly limited. i was told that the 3/0 hooks that i have been using are way to small. i haven’t been able to find any larger ones though .

these hooks were certainly larger then the average hook. i don’t no how a fish would stay on something like that though .

Jake…lets hook up before the cat outing and I’ll get you set up with some tackle that will work for either flatheads or channels, if your still looking by then.

I’ve ordered a lot of stuff from Jann’s. Their website is here. If you have a slow connection (like me) they’ll send you a hard-copy of their catalog if you request one.

Catfish Connection has almost anything you would ever need. You can order over the net, mail or phone if you have their catalog. Reasonable prices and fast service.
