I haven’t caught any fish all year til i found the secret formula for the big fish. I know you guys are from up north but a catfish is a catfish. If you will put this attractant on you bait , and i’m using pork melt the fish can’t stay away. It’s called the original Fish Formula. I’m telling you because this is the only catfishing forum i can find that is really active. If you can get your hands on a bottle of this 2x strong catfish formula. I guarantee you will tell a difference in your catch. I’m not selling this, I just an average joe who knows how bad the fish are biting this year. http://www.fishformula.com you will be impressed..

hey i’ve been reading this board for months now. I just had something interesting to say and said it. All I know is you guys fish up north of me and I thought you might be interested in something different. I fish the Mississippi River out of hickman ky. which is south of cairo IL and north of Memphis. I just wanted to tell you all what i had success with down here. Like i said this is the only Miss. river catfish forum that i have found that is active . I can guarantee I’m not a salesman, i’m a land surveyor who enjoys my weekends. sorry that i offended and i’ll try to post more if your interested in southern catfishing.

Hot weather always shortens everyone’s fuse, but it’s good for the catfishing

Well, just so this thread doesn’t go to waste: Does anyone else use scents (applique, not native to the bait) when catfishing?

When I’m after eaters, I’m usually throwing something pretty stinky anyways (chicken livers or crawlers).

I haven’t fished for cats on purpose for many years now but back in the mid 80’s as soon as the ice went out of the Iowa river in feb. I’d hit the cats in their wintering holes. This was before shad guts was known in our area. My best bait barnone was crawlers douched with original catfish formula. The old timer cheese fishermen would accuse me of having hoop nets out until I’d take them with me and show the proof. A year or so later I was watching an In-Fisherman special and the whole show was based on fish scents. And at that time they specified most scents on the market worked best in cold water temps. Wasn’t hard to put 2 and 2 together to figuire why the fish formula didn’t work so well in the summer months up here.

    Mazver,

Considering your post above and the

“Ellsworth incident” both on the same forum page you don’t seem like a very nice guy to me. Maybe a coincidence?

Thanks for the advice catking. I was out last night cat fishing for the first time this year and only caught one. A decent Channel though.

Actually Mavzer……………I think someone needs to put you in your place………..and I’m just the guy to do it!

If it weren’t for you…………early visitors of this site wouldn’t know that you’ll fold clothes instead of fish when your honey needs your help!

Lord knows how you wrecked this site by having a hand in the catfish forum idea. The audacity to think of expanding to another group that uses the rivers! You have some nerve Mavz! Some nerve!

And another thing…………..next time you let someone (me) park a boat on your property for a year or so……….you’d better charge them an arm and a leg instead of asking nothing in return! We’re likely to get the wrong idea about you and I wouldn’t want that to happen!

And before I wrap this up…………….how dare you encourage someone who accepts an “open seat” invitation to bring their child along…………who thought it might be an issue! How dare you stick your nose into someone else’s life and offer such a positive solution! Isn’t it enough that you work with kids throughout the year?……………that you have to go out and help other people work with their kids too?

You’ve got a lot of work to do Mavzer and it’s about time someone told you so!

Okay………….before anyone gets the wrong idea, this is meant to point out some of Mr. Mavzer’s “other” side. If my attempt at doing this with light hearted humor is misunderstood, please understand………….it’s just misunderstood.

We’ve all had moments in our lives that may be considered “less than stellar”…………..and we’re sure to have one or two more…………part of our imperfect nature. But in the moment of truth, there is much more to all of us than a couple of incidents may indicate. This is all I wanted to point out. This site is chock full of high quality people……………who still have “less than stellar” moments.

Mavz, play nice! If I get a good report maybe I’ll take ya to a ball game or tractor pull or something!

Hey Mavzer, my mentioning the Ellsworth baseball game was not intended to give you a bad rap. I’m very sorry about that. I think if someone has not played competitively they do not understand the heat of the game. Again I apologize for the misunderstanding.
