    Welcome to IDA Rollin!

    Nice fish!

When you say “up here” would that mean your from…”down there”?

If by “down there” you mean Mankato then yes : ) At first I was cursing this Mississippi river fishing but now (after finding some spots) I’m a big fan. The fish really seem to congregate in spots on the Miss. The channel was 30″, 14 pounds, and just kind of a nice pic. That flathead was pretty big.. too close to bottoming out my 50 pound spring scale. It said about 44 pounds but I don’t really trust it at that weight. I should have a diggy.. Another kind of a bad pic but look at the belly on that fish!

I think those are some cool pictures. That flathead has been eating well this spring. Nice fish.

Yeah, it’s nice to see them with big bellies and should put on some growth this season. Trust me he was nowhere near dieing. He has a few years left in him : ) Lively as ever and splashing me when I released him..

    Welcome to te site Rollin.

The log book is in the species specific forum/catfish towards the top of the main page. Its a great way to compare notes, and what is working and when. We just started it, but you nevr know when info can be useful now, or in the future.

Its nice to see another serious fisherman around town. The twin cities has lots to offer for flathead fishermen.. just a little bit different river to learn in our area.

Send me a PM if you ever need any company. I know a few good areas around town.

He was caught on a live sucker. I’m surprised how selective the fish are up here compared to the smaller Minnesota river. All my flatheads have come from live bait(suckers.. bullheads.. whatever), and all channels on cut bait. Lately I’m almost sure what kind of fish is on even before I pick up the pole.
