What a beautiful night. Went out from 07:00 to 10:30 pm. Only got one channel but had about 6 pickups that I didn’t connect on. Fished cut bait and bullheads. Water was at 679.5 feet about 4.5 feet above normal stage. Nice current flow in the backwater areas. It was an absolutely beautiful night to be out.

Hey! Keep the pics comin’ champ!!!

Just wondering, as a person who really doesn’t know,…………….when you’re talking about the missed pick -ups, are you using circle hooks or ever thought of trying them?

I was running a mix of both circle hooks and large Gamakatsu Octopus hooks. Usually when they really want it they take it and you just have to hold on. When that bait clicker goes you find yourself getting really antsy to hammer them. They were a little picky that evening and would pick up the bait and run with it and then drop it.

We were getting good pickups on the cut bait rods with a good run on the bait clickers which kind of gets your adrenalin running. When we picked up the rods out of the holders they would drop the bait. I had a friend with me and this was his first time out – sometimes you need to have a lot of patience after the first run and he was pulling the bait away too quick on the drop. The one we caught I hammered him with an Octopus hook as he turned and ran with the bait.

I missed 5 pickups on Thursday night. Went back the next night and didn’t even get a tickle. I think I let them run too long.
