So I fished with my new 6500C3 this weekend. It was windy and the reel got a few good blasts of sand onto it. Now when I reel it in, I get a sort of ‘grindy’ sound coming out of it.

Is this something that I can clean myself? Would you suggest taking it somewhere to get cleaned? Any reccomendations?

Lately we have been using gun scrubber to wash out the sand and ect. Than blow them out or just re-oil them.

Your manual tells you how to properly take your reel apart for cleaning and oiling. Pretty easy to do and will only extend the life of your reel and operate alot smoother. 6500’s are nice reels
