Was out last night with my son on Pool 3. We fished from 6:00 to 9:30 pm. We hit about 5 different spots for channels that I had luck on before. We used cut sucker and bullheads with no luck. The water temp was 76 degrees, I think the spawn may be in progress. Overall a disappointing night: The Twins lost; the big cruisers were active; the river was high/fast/dirty; and all we had was two pick ups that we lost. Makes me want to go again tonight – I got the bug bad.

Not too surprising, we were out down here (central Iowa) about two weeks ago and things were slow as can be. With this 90° heat, it shouldn’t be long and they’ll be slammin’ baits again.

I don’t feel so baad now…I fished hard Wed nite prior to the rain-had LOTS of good bait but no cats were interested…caught one during the day at the bubbler. Guess, the spawn etc may have them lock jawed
