find a pile of wood in the back channel….. that has decent depth and a little current or current near by and soak a bluegill, bullhead, etc,,, start at dark and waite till dawn.,,… that is the short of it…use heavy tackle…

    Hey Mavzer-
Do you prefer the timber to be at the head of the hole, or more towards the tail/flat??

I doesnt matter to much to me as long as it is dense…. and goes into the water pretty deep… you get a lot of those floating woodpiles that just sit on the surface… I like fishing sunken timber… the floating “wood shelf ” is o.k because it provides shade and you will find cats there but the best stuff is the sunken stuff… and that is usually found at the head of a lot of holes and them the cureent breaks and scoures a hole behind it…. kinda like a wingdam effect…. and wingdams are good spots to try as well….. ….. hope this helped
