I think that we are still on track for the bullhead language, but remember that it still has many hurdles to jump before it still becomes law. The language was approved by the Commissioner and we are working on getting a Statement of Need and Reasonableness prepared. The next step will be the Governor’s approval to move ahead with the request to adopt. The earliest that this might get adopted if it makes it through all the hurdles is late September.

I remain an optimist for one reason only…

Brian you need to take the gov on a cat trip
and explain that he needed bigger bait for him to catch a bigger cat. I think it would get pushed through quicker.
then we will have a gov. cat opener on Aprils fools day

Now that is REALLY funny you mentioned that Rod man…

From my contact at the DNR….

I appreciate the offer to go catfish angling and will take you up on the offer. However, being from Iowa and having done a lot of that type of fishing, I am aware of what a larger bait can do. The largest cat I have caught was 125 pound blue cat on the Mississippi near Cape Girardeau, Mo.

I’m thinking I’m not going to be able to beat the 100 lbs mark.

He let it go… thats why it could not be registered as a new world record.

So you dont think there are bigger blues out there larger than the current 124 WR? HA! That 124 lb record is going to be broke in the next few years!

Just look at the James river in Virginia. That river 20 years ago had 20 lb blues that they thought were trophies. Now they are pulling 80s and 90’s out of there every year. What do you think will happen in rivers and lake where blues have been for much longer such as the lower mississippi.
