Anyone check out the Blue Cat fishing article from the latest issue? It is my Dad’s best friend who moved to SC a few years back from SD. They are using planer boards and surface fishing with floats for big Blues. He taught me this techhique a few years back and it works great for Flat’s and Channels that are feeding on suspended shad or bait fish. I thought it was crazy techniques 15 years ago but you cannot argue with the results if done right. When everyone else is complaining about the slow bite these techniques still put cat’s in the boat. If you haven’t seen it,it is worth checking out and adding to the arsenal. It shows the rewards for thinking outside the box.

Rodman, i routinely get pictures from Marlin in SC and in one night he has caught (and released) 5 fish between 40-63 lbs in one night! In conversations with him he has caught up to 330 lbs of Cat’s in one outing with 100 lbs. averages per outing. That is worth the trip!! My dad went down the last couple winters but the fishing was really slow due to cold weather.

I recorded an episode of IN-Fisherman using these techniques. Looked like something that had potential. Gonna have to give it try soon.
    Good recommendation.
