    wow, what i fish !!

what i want to know is why he ain’t smiling. i’ve noticed a lot of photos of non-smiling people with big fish lately. what’s the deal? aren’t you supposed to be happy when you catch a trophy fish? any fish for that matter. i guess it might be some sort of weird fisherman pride or something .

i know one things for sure though, if i ever catch a fish half that big i’ll be grinin’ from ear to ear . it doesn’t take much to make me smile. heck, i’d even crack a smile for a big sheepie

Well, Jake, I think the answer to that lies somewhere between 59 and 60 pounds! If I were holding that thing up head-high, there’d probably be steam blowing out my ears!

He might be in a hurry to get that fish back in the water too. Remember………it was released (THANK YOU!) and sometimes in the dilly-dally of getting the pic and the weight and the measurements…………a guy who’s really concerned about the well being of that fish might start getting a little “urgency” to his face.

    Just a thought…………….

How were you keeping it alive? Obviously you had to cart it a ways from the look of the picture background. Did you have some kind of live tank (from the looks of that fish you would need about a 1,000 gallon cattle trough)?

I’ve wondered what I would do if I ever got a state record fish. I don’t know if I could kill it just to get the record but it sure would be nice to be able to register it without killing it. In Minnesota it is illegal to transport live fish. If you cannot transport it alive to record it, about all you can do is kill it. Seems kind of a shame. I guess you just take about 50 rolls of pictures and get as many witnesses as you can.

I probably don’t need to worry about it – first you have to catch a record fish. About all I have been doing lately is getting stung by my bullhead bait.

Stung bud? I thought you were supposed to clip those tips for decreasing incidentals and increasing bites? I know CatdadMN clips the tips on his bullheads and he seems to know his game well enough for me to put stock in that.

Maybe, a you too should be liking to be try it?

Im with you Jake… I fish to have fun.. there BETTER be a smile on my face… or Im going to have to wonder WHY Im doing it!!!….. with a fish of that trophy magnitude the grin should be of equal magnitude… they might have to sew my cheeks (on my FACE!) back together after the smile ripped them!…. I too think its possible to heave that fish into the air, be concerned to get it back into the water AND smile at the same time! Plus… not that I wish to be critical of this picture… but I really LOVE shots where the river is in the background… it dont have to be the spot you caught it at… but its more charming than a parking lot, or inside a building…. again…. Im NOT trying to be critical… just helpful…. in FACT this pic CAN be fixed!… if you have some photo editing software you can change the background pretty easy!…. I would even do it for you as an example….. though unless you want to take your chances as to what background you get… you should also provide me with a background shot…. also… I need the pic in its full resolution, just to be able to do the best job possible… because the pix posted here have been “reduced” to fit…..
