Fished pool four on Fiday and did OK. Two smaller flats and some channels.

Last night I had the pleasure of meeting Mudcat who seems to be everywere in that flatbottom of his. I ended up changing locations from were we met up Mudcat. The Flathead action was slow early and picked up for me about three a.m.

It goes something like this. Everything was going wrong. I had just hooked up with a fish that immedietly got snagged. I yanked so dang hard trying to free the fish my 50 lb line snapped. The reel came back and smacked me in the face so hard it cut the bridge of my nose and forehead. Ouch!! Blood everywere. I was going to call it a night but decided to stick it out in the rain. Not 5 minutes later another one bit. I was in the middle of fighting the fish and my second rod got hit. A double!! Luckily the 2nd fish just sat there which gave me time to land the first. When it was all over I had one about 30, the other maybe 20 something laying on the bottom of the boat! And then I got another over 20 five minutes after that. Ended up being a pretty good night with five flatheads. I’ll post the pics soon.

man…..maybe i shoulda stuck with ya Dirk, soudns like u had a good night!!

I didnt do too bad myself…..with in minutes of setting up i had action. What happend was i got my rods out, then decide to grab a nice cold beverage when a cat decides to chomp on my bait…unofortunately, i missed that fish. BUT…..about 30mins later, same rod got a solid run and landed a smaller flattie. After rebaiting, AGAIN another hit!! Within about 1 minute after casting! A slight bigger flat this time, but not quite big as Dirks

All in all, i ended up with 3 fish…..all of relatively nice size. One even had a HUGE underbite….so much that the lower jaw portruded WAY past its upper lip….i got pics i will try to post.

LOL….i didnt even know it was raining unil i woke up …..and notice i was sopping wet…..thank goodnes for nice raingear

    Dirk –
Sounds like an episode of America’s Funniest Home Videos. You must have been knee deep in Flatheads at one point. Sounds like a great time – wish I was there!!

    Good Fishing

oh yeah……we caught another half blind flathead. He only had one developed eye. The other socket was empty with skin glazed over it. But still, the 1 eye he did have looked like it was blind anywyas….it had all these dark and light bloches in it.
