Where does everyone generally buy fishing tackle/bait from.

I myself buy from Moore’s bait and tackle in Minneapolis. I feel we need to support shops such as Moore’s rather than corporate giants such as cabela’s, wallmart, gander ect…

Hooked On Fishing Bait and Tackle in Rochester. Mike is a IDA Field Staff member and site sponsor also. We have to support these guys or they won’t be there someday when we need them for bait and fishing reports. They care about us. Do you care about them? We need to.
    Thanks, Bill

My local one stop bait and tackle shop

    MOORES BAIT AND TACKLE.

I would also use other locals if I’m in the area.
Your right Bill we need to give our business to our sponsors or we would be in a world of hurt if they werent around.

BFISHIN For the gear Cabelas is pricey but hard to match the quality and the no questions asked returns, plus it’s very close…..TOO CLOSE!

There are basically two spots I go to for a all my fishing stuff other than the big ticket items. Evert’s Resort in Hager City and Ike’s Bait and Tackle in Red Wing.
Both places are run by great guys who take care of their customers very well.

He is supportive of us metro cat guys and I have never befriended a bait shop owner before. This year I am getting out fishing with Bob so I can get some of that mojo going my way. I hear it is very good karma to go out fishing with your bait guy, right Bob?

for most of my BASS fishing gear I use Bass Pro Shops catalog.

For all my Miss River needs, Evert’s, hands down. Dean always has what is currently working, Great tips, Great service, all with a smile and a friendship…

The Marathon gas station down the road. You get your own minnows, and if ya go in the evening the young guy doesn’t even look. I’m not greedy about my scoop but I give myself a good scoop. I just don’t like the scoops ya get at the other 3 in town.

    Convienance is my most motivator.

Bob’s in Mpls is a little off my beaten path, although I did make it over there a couple times last year.

Jimmy’s in Stillwater is the wrong direction for my catten, but I aways stop in heading north ice fishen.

HOF in Rochester is always freindly and willing to pick on me a bit. (he also put me on a hot bit twice this year!)

But since I fish P3 and 4, my destination is Everts. I don’t have to worry about my truck trailer, lights for the wee hours of the morning and once in a while if I talk really nice to Dean…I get a cookie out of his stash.

Do you know he has a number of little lady’s in IA baking him cookies?

I just realize that I don’t buy any of my cat gear on-line anymore. Just a couple years ago the ONLY place a person could find any “real” cat gear was on-line.

    Thanks guys!

I am lucky, I live close to Moores. Everyone knows I am always after big fish.. there is no place like Moores when it comes to the Cat and Sturgeon gear. Its all there, its on hand, you dont have to page through a catalog and hope thats really what you want.

The guy carries bullheads ad shad and will keep the door open late for you if you call 1st.. how can anyone not like a guy like that?!

Bob Moore is a class act, he is as good as people come, and he goes out of the way to cater to the needs of the fishermen.

    You’re right Dave.

..and I have to hand it to Bob. He listen to his customers and brought the gear in that they wanted.

He’s the first “all you could ever want catfishing shop”!

I haven’t been in there since before he was burglerized. Is he back to normal?

I have been fortunate to fish on the coat tails of David Scott this past year for catfish and sturgeon. So my sucess in those areas are from him, and watching everyone else.

I also have had the chance to fish with “the captain” BrianK whom I think the rates are going up with the new title. Congrats on getting your license Brian, hope to have another chance with you this year . Now that we are both in the fifties, it nice to know you have a first aide certificate when it comes to you saying “you going to get that”.

Pug, I hope that I still have some Karma left this summer. It will be fun to hook up and see what trouble we can get into . Thou I still think you maybe a snake in the grass, and have alot of good answers when it comes to finding the fish that you are not leading on.

I thank all of you for your patronige (sp) and BrianK, as for being back to normal, I trust you are refering to my stock and such . My mental health is not for dicussion on this forum, it would be way too long.

I have to agree with Bill. Mike is a great guy, and if he does not have it, he will have it in a day or so. And he will give you the info on the good bite, fix any rod or reels that are damaged, and do it with a smile

I wish I was a little closer to Moores, but the gas money is too much for me I prefer to spend my gas money on getting on the water

Living in the Twin Cities, there are lots! of options that are not “big box” retail shops.

Moore’s Bait & Tackle, Minnetonka Outdoors, Thorne Bros, Vados Bait & Tackle, Wayzata Bait & Tackle are great stores.

Thorne’s has the best custom ice fishing rods around, Minnetonka Outdoors is the only shop in MN that I “know” carries Little Atom ice jigs, Vados is your 1 stop bait superstore, and then there is Mr. Moore’s place.

I’m not sure I can say anything about Bob’s shop that has not been said already, except it is the place to go for catfishing gear, bait, and advice. Try talking to the kid at Gander about catfishing. LOL! You can talk to Bob and he knows what you are talking about, what gear you need, and how/where you should fish.
