I have caught lots of cats this year shap rapping for walleye on upper end of Pool 2. Last one Sunday was around 20lbs. Question—cats have little tiny eyes and I have always heard that they feed on scent-so are they sight feeding when they are hitting shap raps?
Sunday was particularly odd because I was trolling with the current fairly fast. So a fish probably only had a split second to hit the bait or turn and chase it. I was using a rattling shad rap, do they respond to sound?
Finally, where should a guy start if he wants to catch some large cats in pool 2? What kind of structure do they relate to (upper pool 2 has little snags, only a few deeper spots-no real holes, and backwaters are very shallow and dont look very good)? I assume that nights are best and I know the baits that you cat men use. Just looking for some location ideas.
Thanks!!!
