I will be up there camping on Memorial Day weekend and would like some help to find areas to get some. Will have site on river if that helps but not sure if site has open area to fish from shore but will be bringing boat. Any and all help will be appreciated. Kinda know area alittle bite but not real sure where to go. Thought maybe by stoodard were wing dams are might be ok but would like to get some walleyes too.
Be prepared for HIGH WATER !! I hope you camping site isn’t to close to the river. Sorry I don’t have any advice on fishing in that area, but I just wanted to pre-warn you about the water rising. Good luck and have a safe weekend.
The river should be dropping fast towards Memorial day. One thought is on the main channel. Go to the office at the campground and ask directions to Coney Island. There’s a huge, shallow (at normal stage) sand flat south of the island. This year, current and high water might make this a place to drop Lindys or slip sinkers. Might see you there. Pete.
What type boat do you have? I have a white and green tri hull naed AC ADDICT. So you think the water will be coming down by then we are deciding to might relocate from there because of high water. Hope it works out and will look for you.
Sorry, loks like over 10′ for the weekend. If you’re staying at Goose call ahead to make sure your site is dry. Bring cards, srabble, yatze. The fishing ain’t happenin’. I’ve got an 87 gold and brown Astroglass fish and ski, 120 Evinrude. I’m probably gonna keep it dry unless forcasts change. It’s raining now! Pete…. Another thought. Pull the boat up to Lake Onalaska. The Northerns are spawning and maybe some panfishing could happen.
Don’t know!Rapidly dropping. Saturday9.5 Sunday, Monday. I still might give it a shot. Normally shallow flats. Coney Island, Lindy,s and crawlers, Take the wife, sunscreen and toons. Ride out the battle cruisers which will be out, also.
