    That is sweet.

Why don’t I just save you the hassle of bringing it along and you can just give it to me now.

Here it is, the first prototype for the 2007 excursion. This medallion will be given out to the IDA member who gets the biggest fish of the day Saturday that is staying at Wigwam.
It is 5″ wide, and 1/8″ aluminum with the writing and sturgeon etched into the aluminium!

Nice…. did you make that on a CNC Mill?

I’m assuming longest fish will win it?

    Here we go:
FisherB came over tonight and helped me tightened up the medallion situation. It is now a “MEDAL” situation!
Here they are: “GOLD”, a “SILVER” and a “BRONZE” medal awarded to a IDA member staying at Wigwam with the largest fish to be awarded accordingly!

Has anyone called about the ice. I just looked at the 10 day and they are well below zero every night. I got a not so good feeling right now….

    I spoke to Wigwam yesterday.

They said the ice will be out at 12:47 pm on the Thrusday before we were arriving…unless the day before is overcast. Then the ice will be out 22.5 hours later..which puts it at noon on Friday.

    Actually…they didn’t have a clue.

    Think spring everyone!

You’d surely win the gold as pretty as I am. I’m a true trophy, so says my wife.

Koots..you misunderstood her…she said you were “atrophied”

2 kids in less than 2 years. Yes, I’m atrophied also for the last 9 months.

Hey Brian, the golf course is wide open today, you should stop out for a round.

with two weeks to go…I’m thinking the cow will clear out the ice by then. Sounds like the river is clearing up good…so far.

What is the access we go out on? Is that Birchdale? (I can’t remember from last year)

You could dock you boat over night if you wanted. I pulled mine last year because I was worried the wind might kick up and bang it around on the dock. I will use the dock at lunch time when I come in for some soup and sandwiches.

If I remember correctly, Cat is making the turkey.

Unfortunatly Cat has moved on to bigger and better things.

The crew that will be up at Wigwam is….drum roll please!

    Danielle (front desk)

    Judy (front desk)

    Tarra (front desk)

Brenden (cooking Turkey on Saturday evening)

Nikki & Casey (Bartenders ~treat these two extra nice!)

Tom reported “pinocchio’s” being caught up to 60″ in the river this last week. With a number of them caught through the ice.

Please remember to leave a gratuity in the rooms if you feel inclind to do so.

They do, but are more than likely frozen in with ice right now.

I’m thinking happy thoughts like the rest of you but sooner or later, we may have to accept reality and that is there is a very good chance 4 mile bay will be froze over. The guys fishing up near Birchdale and Frontier launches had to deal with breaking ice this weekend. The river was currently refreezing at night. Fisherman with larger boats were struggling at the launches with ice and ice on the launch itself. Those that were breaking ice and getting on the river to fish had to watch for icebergs floating down river. There is also a little winter storm coming into northern MN tomorrow.

Still got 1 1/2 weeks to go but my confidence in having a wide open 4 mile bay and Rainy River are starting to fade.

I guess this is why we live in Minnesota, ya never know what you’re going to get with the weather.

If you need to see it with your own 2 eyes, Sportsman’s Lodge has a live webcam of the Rainy River, 1/2 mile or so upstream from the public access. I checked this morning and she’s froze solid from shore to shore. Looks cold too!

    Back to happy thoughts!

12 days to go and there’s 70 miles of sturgeon laden river if 4 mile doesn’t open.

Think positive Chris…or I’ll keep your scissors.

Caught a bit of a weather report today saying next week is supposed to warm up quite a bit. I’m keeping my fingers crossed (being that they have a hard enough time telling us what it’s going to be like in 24 hours)
