I watched that episode the other day and found it funny how vocal those blues are! In all my years of cat-fishing I have had one time where a channel “talked” to me……and it wasn’t in a dream, either!

I like that old Bill Dance show! Just a nice southern guy who always has fun. Think I will go watch him again, Thanks Brian!

The channels I’ve caught speak to me more often than not. Most of the time they say “Briank…you are THE MAN!”

Has anyone used the Gamakatsu trailer hook they were using? The one with the barb on the outside. Guess I’ve never saw a need for a trailer hook on channels…mudpuppies yes, channels no.

    C. Assist 510
The Assist 510 features a curved point with an out barb that will not nick the leader if it were to catch the line. No vertical jig should be fished without one. The super strong braided line loop easily attached to any jig. One of the first Assist hooks introduce in the US and still the best designed. Sizes: 1 – 4/0.

first time i have heard of using trailer hooks for catfish. guess they would pick up a few more of those either you got them or you dont bites.

btw, i think when catfish talk they sound like curly – nyuk, nyuk, nyuk.

I guess I can see an application for channels and Blues…Live bait??? I don’t see the connecting line long enough to make it work very well.

The show used a 10/0 (#2020) hook (which I use exclusively for flats) and a 4/0 trailer. (the C picture).

My mind says “does not compute”.

I know channels aren’t hook shy…but I do like to bury the hook in cut bait. This way it’s easier for them to get the whole hook in their mouth. Well, that’s my reasoning anyway.
