OK, so I am seriously contemplating taking the leap and buying my first GOOD reel. I got the Catfish connection holiday supplemental and they advertise the 7000 at about 80 bucks. Is this a good buy? If it is within 5-10 dollars, I will buy it from Bob at Moore’s (damn the free Swiss Army Knife)

    Thoughts?

Is there a different reel anyone else reccomends?

I just got some 6501 for a good deal but I suggest go to bobs and get the 7000….I just had this conversation with briank a couple days ago. Castandblast just stripped out a 6500 on a 44 inch musky.

    Dfresh,

I saw those 7000’s in there too.. I have to check a bit…but they are red in color…and I think that means something…just don’t recall what the differance is…

There’s other reels out there…but for tested dependability and just being a plain old work horse, it’s hard to beat the old 7000C3’s.

    Good luck with your choice

PS money’s tight for many of us…check in with Bob before you make your decision…he helps keep the lights on in the cat forum and maybe his sources could help you out.

I cann’t beat the price on what the offer was, but like Brian said, red is something different. You will have to give me a few more days, I still haven’t restocked from earlier this month. But I should have some in for the holidays. Dfresh, I saw that channel you were holding in the other thread, you can ask audemp but the head on that thing sure looks like a flat. Hope you all had a good holiday, My musky guys are working Harriet to death over there with giant suckers……Bob

I don’t want to let the cat out of the bag but check out the sale on the Berkley Glowstick combos in the CC holiday flyer.

Whats that? The 9′ Glowstick casting rods are teamed with the 7000C3s. I can’t remember the price of those combos off the top of my head but I thought they were $110 or so. Thats a $40 rod, which makes the reel price $70.

The other combos were a 8′ MH casting rod with a 6500C3. There’s a deadly catfishing combo as well!
