Mr. Flatcaster asked the question in the MN River forum, so I thought I’d throw it out here. It’s not like there are people who only check one or the other and not both, but oh well.

I might wind down a little Sunday evening on shore some where.

I was out with Hanson last night…I put him on an AWESOME mud puppie bite. Best I’ve ever had!

It sounds like I’ll be out Sunday night…everytime I plan on putting the boat away..something happens and I end up going fishing!

Well, did you turn around and use them as bait? Match the hatch!

    I’m from MN remember?

Actually Hanson took them off the hook for me.

Pollywogs are illegal as bait? I guess that doesn’t matter to me. I don’t put anything cute on my hook. That includes frogs.

Any advice for me? I am looking at an area that has a lot of different depths between wing dams. Shallow sandy areas? Deep holes? Timber? Looking for channels of course.

Sounds like you’re talking about between the 1st and 2nd wing dam below L&D #3. Need a boat to fish it though.

Brian, its too early to put the boat away so you will just have to suffer with the rest of us and fish more. Now that kind of suffering I like.
    Thanks, Bill

ps. I think you need to come down to Rochester and show Mike and I how and where to catch some cats on Lake Zumbro this coming year. Rumor has it you can smell a cat a mile away.
    Thanks, Bill

So did anyone that went out catch anything? It is supposed to be 65 tomorrow (Monday) and I might want to go out and fish after work.

I may just be out with nightcrawlers for carp or something.

Pretty much just channel cats. I didn’t spent a lot of time on the water as I had a number of other things going on…

Although I was thinking the same this D…warm weather…might be my last chance…before I put the boat away!

Hey Pug…skip P3, no fish there anyway…and it’s too crowded…P4 is where the actions at!

I hopped around to a few spots with my daughter yesterday. We was using cut bait and crawlers. I was hopping to atleast get some action on the crawler for her, but it wasn’t in the cards. I believe I will be stripping the line off the reels and putting them away. It was a nice day to be around the water though. Nice to have a personal photographer along too, just in case I catch something. She likes to talk my ear off when we fish!

Anyone ever tried fishing the railroad bridge that goes over the Mississippi on the Eat side of Pickerel Lake? I drove by it for the first time yesterday and it piqued my curiosity, but I didn’t stop. I decided to keep going to the old reliable skunking hole!

Ps I’ve been out since noon (P4), it’s been real slow for cats. Some boats are pulling in snaugers left and right while other boats fishing the same spots are struggling.

I’m getting ready for the evening (cat) bite.

I was able to coax a 31″ channel into the boat this weekend, jiggin for “that other fish”. Pretty fun on walleye gear

As for “that other fish”. I think Larry’s putting together a report of our outing on the MN

There was one point on Sat that I thought we were getting hijacked by a bunch of pirates. Jet boat comes flying up full speed, loaded with guys in hoods and facemasks. After the “disguises” came off, one of the guys sure looked a lot like the guy with the handlebar mustache on another post

I tried keeping one of the “puppies” from the last sturgeon trip in my fish tank, but the resident fish couldn’t resist those blood red outward gills.

I did take a video of it in my tank. I’ll try to upload it later tonight.

You missed the next trip. The “Pirate captain” donned a black full face snowmobile helmet to help with the cold. Looked like Dark Vader coming to attack on his death star.

It always makes me a little nervous when he puts the helmet on…shouldn’t I have one and just what is (and this is a quote from a magazine) the Maniacal Jet Boat Driver” going to jump this time?
