Marc and I spend the cool evening on the St Croix last night..

I have to leave in a few minutes, so I’m going to let Marc tell the story…

It was great fishing with you Marc…and thank for staying on your side of the boat while you unhooked those smallies.

The sturgeon did get a little bigger once we moved out of the community hole.

It was a beautiful night on the St. Croix! Home of the state record Flathead and the Tsunami creating cruiser boats. The night started out a little slow but as soon as the sun hit the tops of the trees it was pretty consistant action. We set up in about 18 Fow next to a drop off which went to 32 Fow. We used a few different types of cut bait and crawlers on the standard catfish slip rig. Before to long we had our first sturgeon in the boat. The fish were averaging around the mid 30″ range. They definatley have become my second favorite fish to catch the first being Flatheads and Smallies JK I had to through that one in there because one of the areas we tried is ideal for those bronzebacks. For you bassers out there PM me and Ill tell you were it is!

I really had a good time Brian and look forwrd to the next time we can go catch some Smallies er I mean Sturgeon…

For those of you that have not signed up for the Sturgeon contest it is only a couple weeks away and I guarentee it is going to be a very close one with many a fish entry. Sturgeon contest

Well we were out again last night and it was very slow only 2 sturgeon a 36″ and a 24″ and guess what else… another eel!!! We are 3 for 3 on those slimy buggers! This one was the smallest of the bunch and this time it gave me the willies! It got off the hook at the boat and I was shining the spot on him and he stayed up swimming in circles right at boat side! Just when I thought he went back down to the depths he comes back up.. boy are they fast! That one would have freaked you out for sure DTRO and Briank.

Fisherdave did manage an 8 lb channel which put up a nice tussle.
