I finally put some fish in the boat Friday evening Brent(Farmboy1) and I hit the water at 6:30. Got down to the first spot and set up with shad and cut sucker. It didn’t take long to put our first channel in the boat. If memory serves me right the first fish went about 24″ on shad. I caught 2-3 more fish and missed just as many on the shad and that was all Brent needed to see that shad was the ticket. After switching over to shad it took about 15 minutes for Brent to put a nice 22-23″ channel in the boat. Spent another 30 minutes in the first spot and then headed upstream a bit to try our luck for Flatheads. Sat for about an hour in front of a nice scour hole and didn’t even have a run Moved to our third spot for the evening and put out a live sucker and I baited up with cut sucker. I got another 22-23″ channel and then it was pretty slow for a bit. I had just switched to fresh cut when my clicker started to scream. As soon as I set the hook I knew this was a big fish, after a semi-short tough battle on my new spinning rod Brent scooped a 31″ 12lb channel out the water for me. As we were getting ready to snap a pic or two Brent sucker got smacked. His clicker never moved so we figured whatever it was was gone and we took pics of my fish and let her go. brent went to check his bait and looks at me and says there’s a fish on here. We didn’t measure it but I would say this flat went 26-28″ or so. After that we fished 1 more spot, I caught Brent sleeping in the front of the boat and calle dit a night. Not sure exactly how many we got maybe 8-10, but it was great to finally catch a few fish.
Sat night I fished with my dad (aka-g3/8) and we hammered on the channels. Since I had done so good the night before. we went back down to where I had fished the night before. Got to our first spto and took 3 channels out of there, then we moved upstream to where I got the monster from the night before. We spent the rest of the night in this spot because we were getting constant action. Strawberry jello sucker was the ticket for us. I got a 28 1/2″ channel to take second place in the contest and my dad’s biggest went 26″. All in all we got 10-12 fish and missed af ew good ones also. I even managed to get my first turtle this year. What a great weekend on the water, the weather was great and I had two great fishinf partners for two awesome nights of fishing.
