My evening started off fishing moon eyes on a wing dam that has been spitting them out for the last few weeks. I was able to catch 2 too add to my suckers for cut bait. By 7:00PM I was fishing for cats.
I was rigged up using the C15 rig, I followed Comanchero15 report, and a few tips (thanks C15) and I was on fish. With this set up you can feel the bait touching bottom and it is almost snag free. I caught cats on both the sucker and the mooneye. I did notice when ever I traveled to far form the channel edge up on the sand flat the cats were smaller in size. The first nice Cat I caught before dark weighed in at 7lbs. The nicest cat of the evening weighed in at 8.5lbs.
I sure was happy to finally be catching some whiskers. There is no fish, pound for pound, that well test your tackle like Cats.

I was never lost. I have just been having a tough year. It was a blast to try something different and have it pay off Thanks for the “nice fish” comments dudes. It sure does help put confidence back into a guy
Catching Channel cats on Walleye tackle is a blast They hit like a freight train. At first I was worried about trying to set the hook and screwing things up, being I was using the circle hook C15 mentioned. No worries, they hit and the drag was going immediately. They actually hooked themselves. It was good to be on Cats again
