Its nothing new for the Fisher Family to fish with Karl (MrKeb)… but last night we had the pleasure of being joined by his better half, Brandy! I believe it was her 3rd time out catfishing, and she did great!

Tyler started out the night with a fish (as usual ). I knew he had a pretty good one on when I heard his drag going out! He fought his fish like a pro, taking pointers from Daddy along the way. Here is Tyler’s new personal record… weighing in at 9½ lbs!!

After a few photos, and a few fish slaps to the side of the head, Tyler told his fish goodbye and watched it swim off.

But it wasn’t long before we saw Brandy’s rod bending away. Fish on!! This is Brandy’s first catfish ever. Very nice!

We no sooner got Brandy’s fish released and Tyler had another one on! He couldn’t let her outfish him, you know! Here is Tyler’s second catch of the night.

We then focused our attention on looking for the jingle bell that Karl launched from Brandy’s rod when he set the hook on her last fish. When all of the sudden we turned around and her rod was out of the holder and sliding through the sand! After a nice retrieval by Karl, Brandy had her second fish of the night on! This one gave her a bit more of a fight, but she loved it! Here is Brandy’s second fish of the night… and her new personal best… weighing in at 10 lbs!

Now, Tyler was just a little bit upset that she had caught a bigger fish than him… but he didn’t let it bother him for long. He just caught another one, so he had the MOST fish of the night!! Here he is with his 3rd fish of the night.

OOPS! He must be taking lessons on holding the fish from Mr Special!

Let’s try that again. There we go… steady…

It wasn’t long before Tyler decided to call it a night though.

Well, all of that fishing can really wear a guy out, you know!

It was really nice fishing with you, Brandy… oh and you too, Karl! We’ll do it again real soon!!

The fish gods were looking after those 2!

We had a range of bait out with bullheads, suckers, and whole and cut shad… We should have all been using whole shad! The fish were inhaling the bait and taking off. The largest fish of the evening that brandy caught pulled the heavy duty rod holder out of the ground and we watched Carls brand new 6500c3 drag through the sand as he ran to grab the rod

I switched to shad for about the last 20 minutes of the evening. I got hit twice with the rod doubling over in the holder.. just to get there and have the tip come shooting back up

The fish gods werent looking after me, but it was a great night watching the fish caught! I really need to figure out how Tyler can wrap up in the fetal position at will and fall into a deep sleep… then again, if I got into that position I would be stuck waiting until morning when someone came down to push me out of the chair.. I would be stuck. Catfishing yoga?

But Tyler’s going to have to get Brandy a Moores Bait Shop hat if she’s going to team up with him for the next cat contest!

Sherry, well done on the post! Holy cow, you tell a good story! Anyways, it was a blast fishing last night.Even though 3 of us didnt catch anything I enjoyed watching the other two reeling fish in. I think Brandy’s hooked, and was awfully proud of that 10lber last night. I just wish the thing wouldnt have given the reel a sand bath. I was up until 2 taking the thing apart and cleaning it last night. Anyways, we’ll get out again soon.

Gary — I agree with Sherry, its about time we see you around again. Give that boat of yours a rest for a bit

Brian, on the Moores Bait Hat. — Funny you should bring that up, as she actually has wanted one for sometime now. Its just a matter of that Moore’s Bait guy getting around to ordering some more up. He’s been out for a while.

Welcome to the site wiskerhooked! Sorry I didnt reply earlier.

There are many fun evenings on the river yet to come!

As for the chair situation.. you should really give Mrkeb some *puppy dog eyes* and send him off to the store to pick some up!

Thank you for the welcome everyone! Glad to be here!

Sherry-Look forward to fishing with you again too!

Brian K-I’ll try to continue to give Dave a run for his money , but I fear it’s just beginner’s luck that’s going to wear off!

Pier-let me just say it was nice meeting you too! I figured you missing all those bites last night must have been a fluke, since I’ve heard so much about what a great catfisherman you are! I was pretty impressed when you scaled that fence and that chair was pretty incredible, but any chair would be nice compared to sitting and sinking into the top of a 5 gallon pail!! Oops did I say that out loud! Sorry Karl!

Dave, maybe you’re right, the puppy dog eyes might do the trick! Guess you’ll find out the next time we go out!

The chair.. the most important aspect of catfishing! Most of need not worry about sinking into a 5 gallon bucket.. maybe crushing it! Choose your chair wisely!

Before long you will be teaching newbie converted bass fishermen how to put a bullhead on the hook.. it takes a few times with those guys.

Eventually you will be complaining the bullheads arent big enough, half your coolers will be minnow buckets that hook to some type of power source. You will look at all small fish as potential bait, and complain if its illegal to use it. You wll catch wind of people flavoring minnows with jello and the 1st thing you will do is go to the grocery store.. right after your done catching bait. Not only will you get a couple boxes of jello, you will get 6 different flavors to try to get a step ahead of *the other guys*, if your not content with that, you will raid the spice rack for more flavors. You will buy a different vehicle so you dont have to smell your bait tanks when accidents happen. Last but not least, you will fish a season, and realize you had way more rods than you started with, and your still thinking about buying another one for some reason or another.

Ok.. thats enough, I need to move the flavored minnows out of the fridge to the freezer!

Tyler thought the fish would like Pina Colada?

Dave, I didn’t realize the chair was such a key component in catfishing! I better go get one! Now, about everything else…You’re a great guy Dave and I’ve really enjoyed fishing with you, but if what lies ahead for me is turning into you, I gotta admit, I’m a little scared!!! I didn’t understand before when I heard people saying that catfishing is addicting, but I’m starting to now. Once you start, there’s really no going back, is there?! You don’t even see it coming! Still don’t think I’ll go to your extreme, but I guess you never know!

Brandy you may want to follow Fisher Sherrys business model she likes warmer dryer conditions usually where Pizza can be easily delivered……

And don’t worry about the winter icefishing season unlike Dave who hates icefishing “but still goes almost every day” Sherry hibernates during the Hard ice season and is content on staying warm and dry.

I said that at one time
Manny said that at one time
Octavious said that at on time..

Oh heck…I can’t list them all!

Brandy…have you seen my catfish mail box yet!

PS Sherry, anyone that can put up with Dave…and the rest of us cutbait, stink bait, jello with dead shad in it carrying cat guys…is no whimp in my book.

I said that at one time!

Brian- I remembered last night I had a small cooler in the bed of my truck from a week ago that still had 2 bags of frozen shad from Moore’s in it. A week in a cooler under a black tonneau cover, the shad didn’t look like shad anymore but rather a brownish/gray ooze with eyeballs floating around. Did I mention the smell? It was choice!

So what size channels did you catch on that ooze?
