First off welcome to the site. About the cats, I would try contacting BrianK here on the site. He is a big cat guy and spends most of his time right at Red Wing. Im sure he will read this post soon (he has nothing better to do ) so I’m sure he will chime in.

    Hey Eric, no weight jokes!

    Welcome to IDA Sucker Slayer!

Just back from a great evening of catten with Mr. C Hason.

I’ll have to catch up with this post around noon…but we have others that are much more qualified than me to give you some ideas…

What are you looking for Flatheads or Channel cats?

Either one or both. I am just looking to get out once and a while and catch a few fish.

I am going to give it a try tonight up by the dam or I might try the hole in front of the Wild life beach. Any thoughts? Cut vs stink?

Sonny’s has been working 6 to 1 better than cut bait…although you might catch a larger channel with cut.

The number 2 producer for me is 3 nightcrawlers on a 3..4/0 circle hook. Check in with Old Man Dean at Evert’s. He has some catfisher people staying there now..he should have to latest and greatest news on the P4 bite.

I suck at catfishing!!!!!! I went out tonight for about three hours and didnt catch a single catfish. Got a few sheephead on the rod I had rigged with crawlers and nothing on Doc’s stink bait.( I know I know I should have used Sonny’s but Doc’s is all they had at 4 seasons) I was fishing just below he roller gates on the MN side. What the heck am I doing wrong?

I’ll cover off on a couple things here and send you a pm on the other…

    1) One bad night doesn’t make you suck.

    2) Where did you launch at? If you would have launched at Evert’s (no launch fee) you would have found that Uncle Dean has so much Sonny’s that he uses it to comb his hair with.

Seriously, there are some cat guys that have stayed there for years and that’s all they will use. Personally, I haven’t tried anything else..but Jake from Sportsmans Warehouse say Sonny’s is much better. Stays on the lure longer.

It’s funny you didn’t get into a sturgoen while fishing crawlers by the rollers?

    Anyway…see pm.
