It’s gonna take a fleet of River Pro’s to get everyone out for this. Anyone know a spot that can accomodate 100 people.
She claims I am going to have to hold a fish during the whole thing so I will be smiling for all the pictures I asked if I could just grab her bottom lip slide my hand down her backside and hoist her up like a giant catfish. She laughed and said you would like that wouldn’t you? Who wouldn’t?

A buddy of mine had a reception with fish bowls on the table with 4-5 small goldfish in each bowl. Little bit of liquor, good group of high school buddies, and I don’t think there were any goldfish left at the end of the night. Mmmmm…August 3, 2006 at 7:24 pm #466413I like the 10 year after idea
As for the on the water ceremony, my brother-in-law got a big pontoon last fall, and a couple of weeks ago, one of his neighbors on the river had his daughter get married on a sandbar. That pontoon was running non-stop ferrying folks out and back. Fortunately it was only a couple of miles from their cabins

August 3, 2006 at 7:33 pm #466422I would like nothing more than to get married on the water. But it would be a hard one to get ok’d by my fiance. I am however going to have a pre-wedding reception/party for IDA members and friends sometime in spring or early summer.
August 3, 2006 at 8:21 pm #466440My girlfriend said she wanted to get married on a beach. Something tells me she wasn’t talking about the Mississippi.
philmccrackenPosts: 2August 4, 2006 at 1:09 am #466506From the owner of Phil McCrackens fishing camp,Phil McCracken to Gocatfish……well you caught the catch of a lifetime and you didnt need a rod and reel…way to go…We are proud to welcome her to our family.Your Uncle.
August 4, 2006 at 1:03 pm #466595Welcome to IDA Uncle Phil!
Gocats…I was thinking of just anchoring a pontoon…at a good cat hole…think she would go for that??
August 4, 2006 at 1:15 pm #466602I can see it now. Gocat is eyeballing the tip of his fishing rod the hole time. As the Conservation Officer turns to ask Tony for his “I do”, the clicker starts a clicking and the line is peeling off so fast the spool is steaming! WWBKD? (What Would Brian K Do?)
August 4, 2006 at 3:02 pm #466628That’s easy…I would stand there with my jaw on the floor while watching the bride to be…push everyone out of the way to get the hook set….can’t let’em run too long ya know.
August 4, 2006 at 4:48 pm #466653My favorite new quote from fishing with Dave the other night applies. “They don’t have hands you know”. When I heard that, I imagined the flathead down there with the bullhead tucked under a pectoral fin like a football “running” away with the bait.
August 4, 2006 at 5:46 pm #466669I think it was more like a field goal. I guess around 3#s. I didn’t even bother asking Dave what he thought it weighed. I think the bullhead may have made him push 3.5#s It was nice to get out, especially with fellow catters. It had been a month since the last time I took out the cat rod.
I think I need my eyes and ears checked. When I went by the group I didn’t recognize Dave and family. I should have at least recognized the vehicles. Then I guess they called me a couple of times, but I didn’t hear them. I finally heard my name and joined them. I’ll tell you this. It is not easy for me to fish alone. I get too restless!
August 4, 2006 at 7:19 pm #466691A wedding on the water just seems… impossible in my eyes. I can just visualize some of the fumblings from this year while catfishing…
Manny gets a hard shoulder check when he couldnt get out of the way fast enough when my rod handle started lifting off the ground(sorry manny!), my clicker taking off 100 mph on another bite nearly takng all the power pro off my reel in 5 seconds(more than 100 yards)… there are more.
I could easily see the wedding being put on hold more than once as I go running through the crowd like Emmit Smith trying to get to my fishing rod in time… it just wouldnt work. The slow motion replay would show something like my eyes growing to silver dollar size, bumping into Sherry and doing a spin move as I start to run, would jump over Tyler like a hurdle, gain some momentum and keep my shoulders low as I ran through the crowd of fisherfolk… get my rod out of the holder and set the hook to have a good fish on for 3 seconds… then lose resistence and reel in the line to learn my hook doubled back and hooked into the bullhead.
Now a reception with fishing rods, good times and everythig that comes with it would be ok.

Thanks again guys and gals
August 7, 2006 at 7:39 pm #467145I think it should involve a Dunk the Brian K tank. Maybe into a tub of stink bait and chicken livers. Hey, it might be an improvement.
Sorry, Brian, it’s been a while.
August 7, 2006 at 7:47 pm #467149Great idea pug. I will put that on the list of must have’s for the celebration. That should go great with “Bobbing for Bullheads”
