Well.. 7pm to 6 am it is.

I believe there are 11 on the list now, and a few more that are dedicated ad will find their way on the list.. getting aweful close to 15.

Another half dozen people and we will be up to more payouts!

Maybe Brian can talk his FW into fishing that night..

Weater Forecast

I hope Tony is as afraid of lightning as I am. Well, no one can be that afraid, but I hope he is not so die hard that he doesn’t mind fishing in strobe lighting. Let’s hope that we steer clear of any fun weather Saturday. I suppose it would be nice for it to storm until say 8pm when we get launched. That way all you’z people wouldn’t get a head start!

Well, me and my cousin are all signed up and ready to go out there and miss some runs The pot was up to about $150 on the board I think. Anybody else getting in on this?

Sherry, be happy to fish with ya. What exactly is the plan anyways? Are we all still camping somewhere??

Mike… read Dave’s original post in this thread with all the rules. Payout is split between Channel and Flathead.

Karl… not sure what the plan is. Dave is doing some pre-fishing today to decide on final plans. Call him later on. Or we’ll call you tonight or tomorrow.

Im just not quite sure where yet. I suspect we will have a little *clan* out there on the river somewhere and it will be a good time. The weather forecast is going to come into play on the final plans… in all honesty I hope it rains a considerable amount in a short period of time near the contest time. If its going to be a total washout(big thunderstorm) I will be watching my rod tip from the safety of my vehicle.

My bad, I read it wrong. It is 1st & 2nd of each species if we have enough people.

Note to self, never fish with dtro when there is a chance for storms.

The payout is split down the middle between channels and flatheads regardless… there will be more than one paying place per specie if there is enough participants to make that possible.. we are gettng close to that point.

There are 15 on the list right now. I expect at least a few more will pop up at the last minute. I will post on here tomorrow how many participants there are close to closing time, and the number of paying places. At this rate there will probably be 2 paying places per specie, if we get more than expected numbers of participants, 3 wouldnt be impossible.

I have a knack for glossing over posts and completely misreading them.

Well, after being demoralized, having my ego broken, stepped on, rubbed my face in the ground last night….what better way to put a smile on a guys face than to get into a contest!

I’m in…with a new, untested…but confident approach to the Lake called the Mississippi!

I wish I could join you all but I’m meeting PierBridge at 4:45 am to hook up with Alvin Mack for some “bait” fishing and I am not tough enough to fish all night and through the next day.

Just because the contest ends at 6am, it doesn’t mean you can’t end earlier! If all works out, this will be my first all nighter. I hope I don’t regret it tomorrow!

UPDATE: The final count is 18 anglers for the contest.

Payouts will be as follows:

1st place Flathead: $60

2nd place Flathead: $30

1st place Channel: $60

2nd place Channel: $30

REMINDER:

Fishing time is 7pm tonight until 6am tomorrow.

Don’t forget to measure your fish in the length + girth format and get a photo of yourself holding it. Photos and measurments must be turned in at Moore’s Bait & Tackle by 3pm tomorrow!

The winners can pick up their cash at Moore’s anytime after 3pm tomorrow!

Me and Bob discussed what we should do about payout.. and we both thought it would be best to break it into 2 paying spots per category. If only one flathead is registered.. that person collects all the money for that category.

For a last minute contest I think I turned out pretty good. Hopefully the rain takes it easy on us tonight and we all get to enjoy a great evening on the water.

I know I am not a contender

I packed it up somewhere around midnight last night. I heard there were a few fish caught, I am curious to see what myself.

Ratherbfishin and I caught 2 channels Mine came right at 7pm and was 25 inches long X 13 girth. Caught on cut sucker. Caught Joes fish on a small bullie at around 12am. We did not measure that one…

They probably are not even contenders but it was fun anyways!

I Talked to Bob Moore and it doesnt sound like anyone has registered anything yet. I will be stopping in there shortly to register Jeretta’s(Ms blacksportsman) channel cat from last night. I heard some rumors of some decent fish being caught(not saying what for who), but DTRO has a couple fish to register for his boat.

It sounded like a tough night for most everyone, but some folks got on top of the fish. I’ll be at Moores to BS with whoever is around near payout time(I’ll be walking away poor as usual )

I would like to see 1 more of these contest happen this year for catfish, later this month might be ideal(last weekend maybe?). I would also like to possibly see a sturgeon contest(maybe 2) during the season on the St Croix with the same rules, STRICTLY catch and release.
