Does anyone know a safe, legal place to pitch a tent (stop it) along the river where you can flathead fish? Worst case scenario is I bring my daughter with and let her bring a friend. But I want to fish all night, because I have never done that. I’d even be willing to do a campground, as long as there is flathead habitat. I don’t want to miss this one.

I have been known to put a tent up just about anywhere somewhat remote and never had a problem.

Any solo cat guys out there, PM me if your looking for a FISHING partner for the contest. Unless the daughter doesn’t come with, it’ll be from shore. I will only have one pole in the water, because the daughter is more a photographer than a fisherlady. Although I found if I leave her with the fishing pole, she will reel the fish in.

Unfortunately, right now, I doubt it, but I’ll be signing up if I happen to be around.

Theres a couple people on the list now, I will be putting my family on the list today, and Bob Moore would like to fish it.. That will put it up to 6 people today. There are 4 others that are 100% that they will be fishing it and waiting for payday.. so it will be 10 very soon.

I hope to make it by (Moore’s) Wednesday to make it official. I hope you guys don’t mind taking my money.

Can we hook one before sunset and just keep it on the line until sundown? Is this a shotgun start?

Who says I am shorefishing? You ever see those waders built into those tubes? That’s right, I am jumping off the 35E bridge and I am floating all night. Trolling with the current for flatheads, it’s a new technique. Very effective for tourneys. I even strung Christmas lights on it so the barges will stay out of my way! Though it’s not going to be easy keeping the battery that runs them afloat.

Pug- Let me know when you are going to jump I want a pick of you flying through the air in a float tube

Brian, control your minion! There’s a joke in there somewhere about spearing too, but I’ll leave that one alone.

I have to say I agree with a 7pm start time. I am a little nervous about fishing in the dark, especially in a tube. I don’t want to miss my evening fish.

Is it considered a trot line if it is floating down river with a large bobber (Pug)

I put my name on the list on Sunday and there were only 4 at that time, so hopefully there will be a few more.

I was also wondering about the “sunset” start. How about a specific time 6-6 or 7-7, etc?

Start time can be changes as long as nobody is opposed to it.

How about 7 pm – 6 am (sunrise).

I am going in today to put myself, Sherry, and Tyler on the list, and Bob wants to fish this too which will put it up to 8 today.

I am sure the lack of entry is due to the excessive heat over the weekend.. not too many people wanted to head out in the 100 degree weather just to sign up for a contest. Now that its cooled off lets hope this list grows fast. People hav until closing time Saturday(5 pm) to register. If someone is out of town and interested in participating, they can have someone else go in and sign them up. I talked to Bob, and he is not fond of the idea of taking credit cards over the phone to enter the contest(very understandable).

I will hang a flyer up today at the bait shop to try to draw in some locals.

There ae 9 on the list.. these names come to mind..

    Myself
    Sherry
    Tyler
    Darren(DTRO)
    Marc(audemp)
    Manny(blacksportsman)
    Jeretta(his other half)
    Larry(flatcaster)

The weather is nice and the fish started biting! We need some more people to give Tyler a run for his(my) money!

The list is quickly growing with some good fishermen, it should be fun.

Yup I will be up there around noon or so. Sorry Mike I have to try and get a prop for the boat after work, so I won’t be up there later tonight. I got your number though and I’ll give you a shout tonight.

No problem. My daughter is either going up north with my brother or staying at a friends Friday. I’d be a little jealous of her going up north to my sisters cabin. Huge bluegills up there. These bad boys are big enough to scare a 5lb cat! I think I’ll be ok fishing for flats for the first time all night. I am pumped.
