very active cats tonight

We were amazed to see cats actually feeding on gills right beside us… and they smoked us pretty good , too. At one point we had 6 on at once…5lbs about the top. Fun fun fun

Flats Lawrence??

Jumbo Flatheads were the ones feeding like crazy around us but most of what we caught were channels. Also saw an amazing sturgeon go airborne right by the boat. Just curious this is the first time in all these years I have seen cats feeding like bass is this common ????

Probably is common, just not many are in the right place at the right time to witness.

I had channels picking off mayfiles right beside the boat a week or so ago and they would NOT touch anything but them. Figures. I have fish surrounding me and not one willing to bite.

I witnessed a flathead take a bird right off the surface once.
The swallows crusing just above the surface of the water feeding on small bugs. I was just gazing across the water, when all of sudden these big yellow lips came out of the water and a little birdie disappeared!

Flats do feed on the surface or very near. Those BIG crashes you hear along the bank at night are flatty’s feeding on the fish that come tight to the bank when it gets dark.
