Tonight is the night! My Favorite Wife has finally arranged an evening catten with my favorite father in law…the favorite mother in law was going to go along too…but backed out today. She figure FFIL wouldn’t go..so she was talking BIG saying that she was ready anytime…

So FFIL normally is in bed by 8 pm…doesn’t like the cold (80 degrees is cold???) has never been on the water at night…seldom been on the ‘sippi and NEVER fished for cats.

I doubt I’ll ever get him out agian…although there might be a chance if he hooks into a scrapping 20 plus fish.

I’m worried. The flats are spawing…which slows the bigger fish bite way down…a possibility of weather tonight is in the back of my mind. Should I have cancled and rescheduled??

Kind of late now…ugh, I think I’ll have a martini and settle down a bit.

    Good luck with that!!

Although with the luck you been having he will probably end up with a 60+.

Ahhh, you forget and must sometimes remind ourselves and other that fishing isn’t always about catching. Last couple outings I’ve had ont he river weren’t the best by any means, but the weather and just the fact of being out on the water were enough.

Channels seem to be biting pretty strong right now. Caught a few last night. Maybe you can have them fish for the ‘little guys’?

I also caught a redhorse on cutbait last night, a first time for that.

I hear ya Nick…but it is about catching this time…as I doubt I’ll ever get him out at night again!

I should have taken some cut bait along…a turtle would have added to the experiance.

His first fish was a little practice fish at 26″ (photo above) and the largest fish of the night was 13 pounds with a couple smaller ones.

At least he got the flavor of catten. Hopefully we’ll get him out again.

Notice Floyd’s smile is much bigger here in this real fish picture….

Now before you say it…I DON’T KNOW…why anyone would wear gloves holding a flat and not with a walleye!

This year I’ve never had a flat cut someone and draw blood…with eyes…I pull out the first aid kit before we get set up…them things are NASTY!
