Got out to the river about 6:15-6:30 sunday morning. Took a short hike thru the woods to my first spot. Set up on the tip of an exposed wing dam with a 6″ sucker, I would have preferred a bullie but Bob at Moore’s was out. Fished here for about 45 mins with no runs or fish. I knid of think it had something to do with the monsoon I was standing in, holy crap did it rain for a bit. After the rain stopped I packed up and headed up river to see if I could get to a more promising spot I saw earlier this year. After a longer walk then I thought I stepped out of the woods 50yds from where I wanted to be. Outside bend, rip rap shore line, and plenty of wood stacked up against the bank. Set up with cut bait to see if any channels wanted to play. Took about 5 minutes to produce a chunky 20″ channel. The next hour or so was a blast I got 3 more in the same 20-22″ range and 4 runs that I missed. Didn’t get anything fro the next 20mins, it was a nice break I had stuff all over the bank by then and needed to retie my line as it was getting pretty chewed up. My suckers had all died by this time so I put out half of a dead one. Ten minutes later a fat 24″ flattie comes to shore
I ended my day at noon with 6 channels, biggest 26″ and 1 flattie at 24″.

This evening I got a chance to hook up with Audemp and mplspug to try our luck. These two guys are great guys and I look forward to fishing with the again. Audemp (Marc) is a rookie to flatheads, and very eager to learn as much as he can which is awesome, so I was glad I could put him on fish. We fished the same area I fished in the morning and we each caught 1 flattie. Mine went about 8 one the spring scale, pugs was around 6-7 and the monster for the night came from the rookie 17-18lbs one the scale Nice fish for your first flathead ever. Mplspug posted a report and pics of our night on another post so check it out. My thanks to Marc and pug for making it an awesome evening on the river.
