Cat Tip of the Day: Night Time Safety Glasses

Last night was a beautiful night to be one the river. We pulled out of our last spot about 1:00 am and Cattin Addict brought the RiverPro up on plane and goosed it up to about 45 mph. I was manning the spotlight in the bow and lighting the channel bouys as we motored upstream. All the way up to Prescott I was getting tattooed in the face and eyes with June bugs, mosquitos, dragon flies, etc, etc. As he brought the boat down at the Prescott No-Wake Cattin Addict had a big grin as he looked at my tortured expression – “You need some safety glasses, Rookie!”. There he sat with a nice pair of wrap-around clear safety glasses perched on his face. My eyes were red and runny and I looked like I needed to stop at a Holiday station and use their squeege to get the bugs off my face.
Well I just got back from WalMart. I got the last pair of wrap around clear safety glasses they had in the store – $4.44 and worth every penny for my next night time run. This rookie is ready for some long distance running to the flathead holes. I thought I would pass on this pearl of wisdom courtesy of Cattin Addict.
    Thanks, Sean.

So you told us about the ones on your face, you didn’t tell us how many you ate!

Was cattin adict sitting behind a windshield with his grin and glasses on while you were safely guiding him up the river and sacrificing your eyeballs?

Great tip. I wish I had some glasses on last night. I’ve never seen (and felt) gnats that thick on the river. My eyes are sure hurting today. Let’s try to get those posts out a little quicker next time…

Well Steve, I laughed my butt reading your tale of the journey back to the landing I had to soke my glass’s to clean the slime off them
Just for the record, I dont currently have a windsheild and I wouldnt put anyone in that sort of postion to take a beating from the bugs, the spot light is just a back up, I mainly rely on the Lowarance 3500C gps system (thanks jolly ann marine) and the route planning from briank and the moonlight to see the marker cans, the spot lite is just added protection. Thanks again steve for a great night out

Great tip Steve, I’d hate to take a big June bug right in the eye!

So now we all know WHY if we hear rumors of Briank wearing a full face helmet while catfishing at night. Great tip.
    Thanks, Bill

No Bill, the helmet is for all the bass boats…I want protection if I get hit by those reckless speed demonds!

    You listening Blue???
