This morning I went out to Volga lake and was trying to catch some crappies and bluegills when I saw a bass chasing the smaller bass and bluegills away from a nesting area. So I tied on a Rapala deep diving lure, perch colored. On the third cast I thought I had gottn caught in the rocks when my line started moving away from shore, after a nice battle I landed this 7 lb. 11 oz. channel. There was a crappie tournament going on so they weighed it for me.

Very nice cat Ed. All fillet out and take the skin off like you do with crappies and gills just won’t get any better.

I second that, once you catch a cat, ALL other fish are roughfish!

Cade, I know another guy from Iowa that thought that too before the Jollyann Marine Company Picnic yesterday…I’m sure he’s a hurting unit…with a very sore spot on his belly about now…

I hope to have a two day report up tonight

I get a fair amount of cat on Pool 2 w/ cranks. I did notice that the rattling raps got more than the others.

    Wonder if it’s global warming?

The walleye guys are getting into flats and the catfish guys are getting into dandy walleyes! Just something wrong with that..

I get bit with a 6.5 inch bullhead more often than with a 4 inch…which is the smallest I use…for walleyes I mean.
