Woo hoo! The spell has been broken and I got my first flathead of the year. She went about 12lbs on my spring scale. Sorry I can’t put pictures up until I use the roll of film up this weekend, but then you can help me confirm the size. I was fishing a spot on pool 1 I had never tried for flatheads before, but thought was promising. I didn’t realize I had a fish either until I noticed the line swimming up river. There were what appeared to be a bite, but I wasn’t sure until I saw the line moving.

    What a relief! Sorry Sherry

An eddy off a main current (From shore). The bottom is fairly clean, shallow and sandy except for all the crap washing down now. I may have had another bite or it may have been a run caused by crap collecting on my sinker (Not a no roll). That’s not to say there weren’t any snags, because I broke off 2 rigs. The magic time seems to be 7:30, as I had a run somewhere else at that time Sunday.

Well I said I took pictures with a normal camera, so now I actually have to go catch one!

I kid, I did get one. But if you get a picture up first, we may have to go to the judges!

I should have also added I got my first bullhead sting yesterday too.

Tip: Never reach into a cloudy container full of bullheads!

If you don’t grab those buggers just right, their back and forth motion they make will get you! I know, tell you something you don’t know! This ones a beautiful slash on the bottom of my middle finger, the crease between the palm and finger. Why am I bringing it up now? She’s hurting like a bugger this am! It’s my first real good sting in a year of fishing with them.

Come on, it’s just a reminder, a little tip. Keep your bait water clear! Always grab when they are facing away from you. Use a net when handy. Do not “Bob” for them like apples.

Pusscakes? I am not sure if i should be offended?

Actually I never grab them when they’re looking the other way.

I look’em in the eye and the one that looks me back with the meanest look and stands his ground is the one I want on my hook.

At least you dudes have bait in the tub. I have to spend my first 1/2hour catching gills and crappies so I can have bait to fish with after dark

Way to go on the Flatty Pug

Was that your girl friend or your wife that was with you a while back…

She was telling me you had a designated hitter….

Must be the coffee this afternoon.

Technically out of all you guys I think I was the first to boat my first flatty of the year topping at 17 lbs. on a walleye jig which is even more challenging to land. Would show a pic. but didnt have the digi cam on hand only a polaroid. O well tho no hard feelins, good luck fishin all.

Andy, Andy, Andy…what in the world makes you think a flathead caught while targetting ‘eyes would count

Catching flats while walleye fishing, how absurd! Makes about as much sense as a guy catching ‘eyes while targetting cats…but of course, that never happens, right BK?

But seriously, congrats to the lucky few who have scored their first ’06 flats…now the race is on to see who gets the first flat 30 lbs or better

    Here’s the pictures finaly

Did I say 12lbs? Hmmm, the photo lady must have shrunk it. Then again, I look a lot more fit holding her! Here’s a photo tip: Close your eyes, it makes the fish seem bigger because you look like you are straining to hold her.

A special thanks to the nice Somali couple who took these pictures for me.
