Wabasha Area shorefishing?

Is there anywhere to fish from shore for cats around Wabasha. I was thinking that I could walk across the dike to the alma dam, but thats along way to walk with all the gear needed for a successful late night cat hunt.

There are channels cats in west newton, you could drive to bass camp, drive up to redwing drive down to lacrosse, try some backwaters over by alma
