in a local river here in iowa there are huge shad all along the bank. (12-15inches) well i was just wondering if the guts in them are still good to use? the shad are a little ripe and there is a little bit of scum on them. this would be an excellent way to get bait for the whole year. What do you guys think???
    thanks guys

Why only the guts? I would cut the sides & use them as strip baits. I’m not a big fan of the guts.

Be sure to wear rubber gloves, I would use dishwashing gloves as opposed to latex, since they are a little thicker and less likely to give when wielding a knife. Shad stink doesn’t wash off.

    By the way, what river?
