Andy, maybe you can tell the rest of us a little about yourself?

How long you been fishing cats?
    Where abouts you live ect.

Welcome aboard! And you might want to book mark this forum…’cause here’s where all the “big fish” actions going to be all summer!

Thanx for the welcome thread briank. Feels good to be a part of something new. About myself; I dont specifically know how long ive been fishing for cats but it’s been a few years. Ive fished a lot more for em since I moved here in MN. North Dakota didn’t offer too much good catten waters. Except for the missouri river. I’m very open minded on what I fish for. Catfish are definetely one of my favorites following walleye and bigmouth bassin. Cats for me are good eatin’ too I actually prefer eating those more than walleye. They just have more flavor I think. About what else I like to fish for tho is anything I guess. All bass, panfish, trout, salmon, pike, muskie, carp, burbot u name it. I love it! If ive heard of it ive prob. caught it, if ive never heard of it ive prob. caught that too. (freshwater species anyway) Btw I live south of the cities in a suburb called Farmington and I’m not far from the mississippi. Ive only lived in MN for almost only 2 yrs. now. I’d really like to know better on how and where the hotspots are in the mighty M on catching cats consistantly. Both fork tails and flatheads. Anyone got a few pointers? thanx.

Welcome to IDA, Andy! Nice to see you again

You’ll find that the catfish forum here is an excellent place to ask a question or two, share some ideas, share a fishing report, and even get a laugh here and there

Here’s a pointer for ya…grab some fresh cut bait and hit a river near you! Some of the best channel cat fishing of the year is happening right now

I might take offense to that! But I guess it is posted on the MN catters forum.

I do not have a fishing buddy for you, but I can tell you who not to go cattin with!

The picture is of a North Dakota Catfish!

I thought of the Red too ICBC!

I figured Andy must be from the Montana side of the state…

Andy, if you head back to ND to vist family or friends, look up ICBC’s or Landscats in the Red River forum.

They can put you on fish that will make the channels around here look like fishing for stunted bluegills.

You must have lived somewhat close to Devils Lake then. I grew up in the big city of Michigan, ND. I never caught a catfish until I moved to GF in ’87. But I have been trying to make for the time I waisted chasing those ugly walleyes .
Good Luck, have fun and stay away from “CA” and “GREENFINHUNTER,

ICBC hey! Ugly walleyes? No fish is ugly in my book whether its sheephead or eelpout. But hey go figure. Out of curiosity why am I supposed to avoid CA and Greenfinhunter.
