Found Cut Bait

I had a bad crappie trip only a cat guy could appreciate
Finding crappies a week ago, I wanted to see if they were still hanging around. I was jigging a Swedish Pimple tipped with a waxie, Ultra light with 2lb.

No crappies But there were Mooneyes I caught a few dandy’s for the freezer. They are my favorite cut bait. They are good and bloody plus, the flash they provide in current is second to none. It made my day
I also caught some sheepies in the 5-8lb class. They sure made for some fun on the Ultra Light. Good practice for the real deal

All in all, it was a good few hours on the water. Bait in the freezer and fun in the sun

Nice Brett…sure sounds like fun, so freezing cut bait is OK guess I did not know that and always thought fresh would be better.

yup, its ok to freeze it whole, then cut it as you go

Pier, fresh is great, but not always feasible. Frozen works pretty well when that’s what you have. I freeze in one-trip portions–it tends to get mushy if you freeze-thaw a couple of times.

I freeze each Mooneye separate just for that reason. I also vacuum pack them to preserve the freshness
