11″ of snow fell in the twin cities, and another 6″ on the way tomorrow night into Thursday!

Why should you be happy to see it? I’ll tell you.

Our average high right now is 38 degrees and climbing quickly.. this white stuff is going to be gone soon and raise the river levels significantly.. The river will go up, the creeks will run, any remaining ice will be destroyed or take serious damage.. Fishing will get great in a hurry! The melting snow and warmer temperatures of the run off will increase the river temperatures in short order.. a few degrees makes all the difference in the world right now.

So.. we’ll have to call off the big fishing plans for this weekend that we had hoped for.. but the fishing is going to improve dramaticly over the next 2 weeks on whatever we target in the river as long as the weather gets back to a normal trend..

We need the precip.. I can deal with one more dumping of the white stuff.. but I would appreciate if someone would start doing a rain dance out there after this one!

Easy for you to say…you guys already hit some open water cats and I’m still at zero for the year

I’m kidding I’m as patient as they come and as Dave has already said, this snow and cold is short-lived and is only going to make the spring fishing better. Besides, I could use the time off from fishing to focus on other things like getting a new job. I’m tired of the one I have now…

Oh well, I guess we’ll still have a month and a half to fish before all the other fishermen start chasing those little walleyes It’s pretty cold this morning, but it’s got to warm up, soon, right?

Brian, I love the new mug shot

Thanks Ralph…some people have commented that I should have left the fish in and me out….

Not sure what was meant by that…

Manny, we need to do something to get the bad vibes off of you! If you’re not going to catch fish, fine, but when you bring your bad luck to the rest of us, then it’s time to do something

Funny you say that Ralph. On sunday while Manny was there no bites at all. I don’t think his car had cleared the bridge when we got the 1st of a series of bites. We only managed to hook one fish, but it was a nice #4.

    Manny,
I’m 0-3 so far this season, so I’m right there with ya bud.

    AWH LUCKY

But I’m gonna blame my luck due to using too small of a hook. I had a #6 Oct, should’ve had a #2 C-hooks.

That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

Hey Phil.. if it makes you feel any better.. Brians hookup ratio has been rivaling your normal average.. but he has caught his fair share so far this year.

Maybe the new Gilligan with a headlight mug shot brought him some luck?

Don’t worry guys I’m only 2 bites away. I’m usually about 1/5. Well on a good day.
Actually I was 0-8 on saturday at Pool4. But that was walleyes so they really don’t count do they.

If so that makes me 0-11 Year to Date.
Mother nature needs to hurry up a bit, so I can get out and catch a fish. Or I just might have to go after those scaly fish again.

Brian aka Mr. Special 2!!! Here I am doling out crap and I’ve never even met the original Mr. Special

Phil, you’re right, walleyes don’t count, and I’m told either do b-a-s-s.

Will meet soon bud. Just make sure you have a good sturdy seat, so you don’t tip over when you see me in action. Dave said it best with the whole Zoro thing. Come to think of it I can’t hit worth a darn in baseball either. Wonder if that’s why I never made the team.

I was busy outside snow-blowing the driveway for the last time this year.. any more snow and its going to stay there until it melts!

Goota love it when the neighbors throw all their snow behind your vehicle!! No worries.. they got it all back! Maybe a little extra

Word to the wise.. dont throw snow behind the vehicle of an arrogant guy with a 6 car driveway, especially when he is out of cigarettes!

    Hey Dave!
Is that the same “lovely” neighbors you’ve told us about before? Do they dress up like snowmen when you get the blower out? YIKES!

Jez, I did a lot of running around to day! Only to come back to this! Phil, you must be an AWESOME kinda guy…to earn me the nick name of Mr Specail TOO!

Dang…everyone’s picking on me. Last Friday…even Fisher Tylor walked up to me and said…”you talk alot”. Then went to sit down and watch his rod….one of the few times I was speachless and that never happens!

I saw that wild and crazy guy Fishhead last night..he is working on changing his handle to Captian Fishhead. He thought the MN is close to moving the ice out. Just hearing that helped my attitude!

Couple three more weeks for the Croix <sigh>…in the mean time I’m thinking it’s time to join Ralph and get the old ice house ready to be put away for the summer.

Just one note to RW…I may have missed a lot…but the ones I caught were bigger than a bullhead! (JK)

Well guys… its still 4 degrees below freezing outside and the sun is melting the snow at a pretty good pace over here.. spring is on the way!

Fill up the windshield washer reservoir on your vehicle and deal with the slop of the coming week.. next weekend should be a pretty good weekend for fishing.

A little bird on my shoulder is telling me the fishing is going to be excellent for the April 1st gathering. With any amount of fair weather before then.. its going to be a blast!

If it turns back into winter that *little bird* might fall victom to a 12 guage

Sawdust in my teeth, paint in my hair….dry wall putty in my ears (favorite wife was filling the holes)…it’s coming along…but I’m going to need a serious cat fix by Sunday….or I might just paint the favorite wife…

    Might just do that anyway….
