Allright. It is well know using chicken parts such as livers to catch channels. Of course the liver is the hottie. I have herd of people using chicken hearts b4 too.

So i was brainstorming (not too hard though, dont wanna injure my brain cell) In the spring i plan on being in SD (or so) snow goose hunting. Usually we pound em. And of course, snows got hearts………..

So………any of ya guys think using goose hearts woudl be worth while? I am gonan save most of em in good condition and freeze em. Anybody use anything like duck/geese b4 for catfish bait?

its not like its that big of news…..jsut thought i would save some coin and reduce/reuse/recycle

The hearts are much tougher than the livers, and stay on the hook better. Unfortunately, I’ve never had the same luck with hearts that I have with livers. I would guess that it’s just like with any other animal where the liver has a unique flavor, but have never tasted chicken hearts myself to see.

I have, at times, thought about using pheasant parts as bait, but my rose bush loves to eat them too. I can buy a pint of the ‘tried and true’ livers for about a buck, so I figure my time and effort would make it a break even at best.
