Could somone tell me what I need to preserve shad that I gather now to be used for bait later. I have tried freezing and that does not work out for me at all. I have some commercially prepared baits that I want to duplicate. Any input from your experience would be greatly appreciated.
Last spring I netted a bunch of large and small shad and vacuum sealed them. About 40 lbs worth. I still ahve a bunch in the freezer. I thought they held up pretty well. Better than just freezing them anyway. If I can get into a bunch of suckers this spring I’ll do the dame with them. Thats about all the experience I have with that type of thing.
