I made a run down to Everts tonight. Found the whole marketing team from BFT Co down there! Lucky for me I had me BFT tee shirt on…I was going to wear my Mr. Twister one.

Got a few suckers from Dean…replaced my spark plug wires that must have fallen of while on the trip down.

I was going to try an make it past dead lake and work my way back…but when I realized Dead Lake was 8 miles from Evert’s in unframilar waters…and some fog was starting to roll in…I figured I would work a daymarker and head back to the dam area.

I picked up one chunky channel down south…she ran a frogs hair under 6 lbs before I left the area. As I was watching the sky and all of it’s stars…I realize how dark it was without the moon out…I actually found the little dipper…and after looking at the stars for a few more minutes… an over whelming feeling of how small I really am came over me. When that happens…I know it’s time to move!

Fished the dam area until 1:30 or so. I had many runs and pickers, so it seemed like something was always going on. Just boated 3 more channels all around the 5 pound mark.

One thing I did notice that struck me as odd…these fish (about 5 lbs.) all fought harder than any 10 lbs walleye I’ve ever landed.

Water temp was 74 and the air temps was very comfortable.

Great night to be out enjoying the Mississippi waterway.

Brian, my only question to you is this, how many true 10lb walleyes have you caught??

More than once fishing the Missouri did I hook a 5-6lb channel and think, I finally got the wall hanger. Only to feel the death roll shortly after, knowing it was another one of those stinkin’ cats.

We ended up with zilch, nadda, nothing last night. I had a run immediately after getting my line out(once I finally got there, starter in truck went OUT).. solid, slow moving run that wouldnt stop.. set the hook .. SNAP .. must have had a nick in the hook leader. A couple hours later something grabbed my cut bait.. 500 yards out there using a lighter rod it felt ok for about 5 seconds.. just the amount of time to get off the hook.

A very bad night to introduce a new fishing spot to someone I had never fished with… Mr PierBridge… at least the conversation was good and there was plenty enough happening on shore to keep us all from getting bored to death.

Ralph showed up and *almost had a bite* many of times.. whatever that means.. I am still not sure yet… but he has almost has a bite at least 500 times this year?

Theres always next time.. but before that can happen I need to go hook a tow strap off to my truck and bring it home so I can put a starter in.. I guess thats one way to start a new month.

I will catch a fish later if I need to grow fins and chase it down with a harpoon!

I was hoping no one would catch that right away…none…5 is my biggest…

One of the guys from the BFT Marketing team was “trying” to tell me that a walleye fights better than a cat…at least at the 10 pound range…and I was dangling a carrot…but after there Marketing meeting last night…I think there’re on the road bright and early this morning….

Truth is…I try not to catch little 10 pounders cats or walleyes….

Fisher Dave, I pulled a ding dong last night. Thought I would pull the boat out right next to the dock…which is sand. The cement ramp is about a trailer lenght over…Dean just graded the whole beach and I come along and tried to make my own cat runs in 4 wheel…didn’w work. Ended up taking the boat off and loading it the right way….now Dean has some pretty big ruts and I have half of his beach sand in my driveway and the other half IN my boat!

    Lesson learned.

We did to catch something! Tyler caught a baby Channel and a pretty nice Sheephead. Silly Daddy!

We all had fun though. And it was fun to meet and fish with Gary (PierBridge) for the first time. We’ll do it again, Gary!! But hopefully we will catch fish next time!

Ahh .. once again I forgot about Tylers fish.

Didnt he use that channel for bait to get that sheephead?

Its a big channel when it cant fit a # 8 hook(creek chub size) in its mouth.. I am pretty sure the hook went through the bottom jaw and came out the top?
