Officially off vacation as of this morning…

Wife said “since you fish all the time, why don’t you relax and NOT fish while on vacation?” After threatening her with divorce papers…she came back to her senses! But she did have a point!

Some of the rela-tics and I spend some time on Lake Minnewaska by Glennwood last week. That was a tuff couple days…fishing for bluegills. I kept wanting to keep the smaller ones for cat bait…favorite wife had to remind me a number of times that you can’t fish with gills in MN…
Anyway, we came home with enough for my Dad.

Fished to Croix one day last week…I’m in the Big Louis contest…and I figured I better start fishing the Croix..also the River Rat contest is coming up on Sept 24th…Big Prizes for the biggest Ugly fish…and the money ALL goes to a worth while cause.

Picked up a couple small (less than 5 lbs) flats and the channels are still snapping…but they were around 5 lbs too. I used the “trolling” system that Jeremy99 out of Ohio taught me last year…

The leading weights in the Big Louis contest are:

    Flathead~ 42.x
    Channel~ 7.x

It was so nice yesterday, Sunday that I thought I would do a little scouting in the North Lake area for some crappie spots this winter…I found that North Lake is a very good spot to polish your prop. Thanks to my MinnKota trolling motor…and a gps…I did get some fishing in!

As normal, I was packing up to leave for home when I finally heard the pleasent chomp on my rod. She was under 10 pounds…but after them bluegills…size didn’t matter, she was a welcome sight!!

With a quick kiss and a few second in the water to catch her breath, she gave me the loving tail splash…that translated means…”I love you too!”

It was 10 pm and time to head for home. As I started motoring away from Screech Owl Point, I looked up and a shooting star shot across my field of view. Made a quick wish, then hit the trottle for home…

What a great evening/night to be on the water!
